Built for real small businesses · Restaurants · Shops · Bars · Salons
Cyber & IT health reports that keep your business open.
ShawTech PGH quietly watches the Systems, servers, and devices your business runs on and sends plain-English reports so you can fix issues before they turn into outages, ransomware, or “cash only” nights.
No long-term contracts · Designed for small teams
Half of cyber attacks now hit small businesses, not big enterprises. You’re on their list.
Automatic Daily + Weekly Grid Reports (Daily 5:00 AM ET, Weekly Sunday 6:00 AM ET) on risk, outages, and health, written in plain language.
Ransomware, surprise downtime, and quiet issues that drain revenue while you’re busy.
Why small businesses can’t ignore this anymore.
Attackers love small businesses because you’re busy, understaffed, and running on razor-thin margins. You handle card payments, customer data, Wi‑Fi, and online orders, all on a couple of Systems and a network that “mostly works”.
Why as a small business do I need this?
Because something as simple as a missed Windows update, a weak password, or an exposed service can take down the systems that let you take payments, run tickets, or schedule clients. ShawTech PGH spots those weak points early, so they get fixed before they become “we’re closed” problems.
How does this benefit me and my business?
- Fewer surprises: you see issues in reports instead of discovering them during rush.
- Protected cashflow: keeping systems healthy keeps registers ringing and bookings flowing.
- Better decisions: you and your IT person talk about specific, real risks instead of vague “computer problems”.
- Proof of effort: reports show insurers, lenders, and partners you’re taking security seriously.
One ransomware attack or multi-day outage can easily cost more than several years of ShawTech PGH.
No security team? No problem. Reports are written for owners and managers first, IT teams second.
Built around the realities of Pittsburgh-area businesses: bars, restaurants, retail, small offices, and more. ShawTech is Pittsburgh-based, but the portal itself is available to customers anywhere.
Lightweight agents feed into a central dashboard and daily reports, with no extra work for your staff.
What you get for $89.99/month.
One predictable monthly price for visibility, not another tool you have to babysit.
Clear, automated reports
Daily (5:00 AM ET) and weekly (Sunday 6:00 AM ET) reports show device health, patch status, risk trends, and uptime in language you can actually read, with deeper technical detail available for IT teams.
Early warning on real risks
Instead of drowning you in alerts, ShawTech PGH highlights the few items that truly matter: missing critical updates, unusual behavior, or new vulnerabilities that affect your environment.
Lightweight monitoring agent
A small agent installed on supported systems quietly reports health and security data back to the ShawTech PGH. Today the agent supports Windows systems, with Linux and macOS support planned for a future release. By default, the agent checks for updates every hour, so improvements roll out quickly without extra work.
Prepared for “what if?” questions
When your bank, accountant, or insurance provider asks how you’re protecting your systems, you’ll have clear, time-stamped reports to share, not just “we think it’s fine”.
Nightly self-maintenance (the steel backbone)
ShawTech PGH runs routine maintenance overnight at 2:00 AM ET, including safe service refreshes, 30-day log rotation, and automatic cleanup of devices that have been offline for 30+ days. Result: your dashboard stays accurate, your reports stay consistent, and you avoid the slow drift into chaos.
Audit-friendly report trail
Reports are organized by day and week and tracked in a report registry, so you can pull up what was true on a specific date when a bank, insurer, or partner asks for proof.
Optional automatic updates
On request, ShawTech can enable a free “install updates automatically” option for supported systems. You choose a maintenance window of at least two hours and specify which days or nights updates are allowed to install, so changes happen when it makes sense for your business.
What is ShawTech PGH really helping prevent?
The goal isn’t just “more security tools”. It’s avoiding the specific disasters that small businesses almost never budget for.
Ransomware & data theft
Stale systems, missing patches, and exposed services are how attackers get in. ShawTech PGH calls these out before they’re used against you.
Point-of-sale & system outages
When the Systems or servers that run your POS and online ordering fail, your revenue stops. Health monitoring and trend reports help catch problems on those systems early.
Hours of “fire drill” troubleshooting
Instead of your IT support starting blind, reports give them a head start: what changed, what’s failing, and which system to look at first.
Reputation damage & lost trust
Customers remember the “cash only” weekend or the week you couldn’t take bookings. Proactive monitoring helps keep those stories from happening.
One simple monthly price for the reporting and monitoring engine. No per-device surprises, no long-term contracts, no “call us for a quote”.
- • Daily (5:00 AM ET) and weekly (Sunday 6:00 AM ET) security & health reports
- • Device and risk overview dashboard
- • Lightweight agent for supported systems
- • Designed specifically for small business environments
ShawTech PGH is a standalone service. Pricing above reflects the value of the reporting and monitoring engine itself. ShawTech does not yet offer an enterprise license, so current plans are intended for locations with up to 20 monitored devices.
What kind of damage is this $89.99/mo really protecting?
A single serious incident such as ransomware, a compromised system, or a multi-day outage can easily cost a small business tens of thousands of dollars in lost sales, payroll, cleanup, and recovery. That’s before you factor in the customers who simply don’t come back.
For roughly the cost of a single busy shift’s credit card processing fees, ShawTech PGH works every day to reduce the odds of that happening to you.
The “why” in one sentence
You’re paying to make sure that when something goes wrong with your systems, it’s a manageable fix you knew was coming, not a business-threatening surprise.
Less guessing, more knowing
Reports turn “it feels slow” into “this system is failing checks” so you can act confidently.
No extra homework
There’s no new dashboard staff have to babysit. Reports arrive on schedule (daily 5:00 AM ET, weekly Sunday 6:00 AM ET) with clear priorities.
But why only $89.99 per month?
It is fair to ask why a security and reporting platform for small businesses is priced this low. The short answer is that ShawTech PGH is built to stay lean. It focuses on visibility, reporting, and early warning, not on becoming a full helpdesk or round the clock response team. That lets the service stay affordable without cutting corners on the parts that matter most.
Built for today’s economy
Many owners are already watching every dollar. The price is set so that a typical small business can add real security insight to their budget without having to drop existing tools or raise prices just to pay for monitoring.
Focused on what matters
ShawTech PGH does one job very well. It collects information, highlights risk, and explains what is happening with your systems. Hands on fixes can be handled by you, a local IT company, or another trusted partner, so you are not paying a premium for services you may not need every month.
Sustainable for everyone
The price is also there to keep ShawTech healthy. It covers the cost of running the portal, maintaining the agent, and improving reports over time, while still keeping the focus on the betterment of small businesses instead of chasing enterprise level fees.
The goal is simple. You should be able to afford reasonable security and awareness of what is happening on your systems without feeling like you have to choose between that and everything else your business needs.
ShawTech PGH + local IT vs. a traditional MSP-only approach
ShawTech PGH is designed to work alongside a local managed IT company or consultant. The portal gives you clear reporting and visibility, while a nearby IT partner helps you act on what you see. Compared to relying entirely on a traditional MSP contract, this approach often keeps costs lower and makes it easier to understand what is being done for your business.
Every business is different. ShawTech PGH gives small businesses an option that keeps them in the loop, while still leaving room to work with a trusted local IT provider on hands-on work, instead of depending entirely on a large MSP contract.
How ShawTech PGH fits into your world.
No huge project, no wall of jargon. Just a straightforward way to get visibility into the systems your business depends on.
Set up the portal & agent
ShawTech configures your tenant in the portal and helps deploy the lightweight agent to the key systems that keep your business running.
Data starts flowing in
Devices report health, patch status, and basic security posture back to the portal. You don’t have to log into ten different tools, because everything rolls up into one view.
Act on clear priorities
Daily (5:00 AM ET) and weekly (Sunday 6:00 AM ET) reports show what needs attention first. Your IT support can jump straight into fixes instead of hunting for the problem.
Common questions
Still not sure if this is the right fit? Here are some of the questions owners and managers ask most often.
Is this only for big companies?
No. ShawTech PGH is built specifically for small and smaller-medium businesses who can’t justify a full-time security team but still need professional-level visibility.
Do we have to be in Pittsburgh to use this?
ShawTech is based in the Pittsburgh area and much of the service mindset is built around local businesses here, but the ShawTech PGH itself is available to customers anywhere. Additional on-site and Pittsburgh-focused services are coming soon, but the reporting portal is not limited to one city.
How many devices can we connect?
ShawTech does not yet have an enterprise license. Current plans are designed for smaller locations and support up to 20 monitored devices per location. That’s usually enough to cover the key Systems, POS systems, and servers that keep a typical small business running.
What systems can the agent run on?
Right now, ShawTech PGH’s agent is designed for Windows systems, which are the platforms most small businesses typically rely on for point-of-sale, back-office, and line-of-business apps. Support for Linux and macOS is planned for a future release as the service grows.
Will this slow my systems down?
The agent is intentionally lightweight and designed to stay out of the way. If a system is already struggling, reports will highlight that so it can be addressed.
Do I need to watch a dashboard all day?
No. The whole point is to reduce “screen time”, not add more. Most customers rely on scheduled reports and only dip into the portal when something needs deeper investigation.
What if I already have IT support or an MSP?
Perfect. ShawTech PGH makes your existing IT support more effective by giving them better data. It doesn’t replace them; it amplifies what they can do for you. They can use the reports and dashboards to prioritize fixes instead of guessing.
What if we don’t really have an “IT person”?
That’s very common. ShawTech PGH is written so owners and managers can understand the reports without a technical background. When you’re ready, you can loop in a trusted IT provider or consultant and simply hand them the same reports.
Does this include 24/7 incident response or is it just monitoring?
ShawTech PGH focuses on visibility, reporting, and early warning. It’s the monitoring and reporting engine. Hands-on response and remediation are handled through separate support arrangements so you only pay for the level of help your business actually needs.
What if we need help installing the agent?
If you’re not sure how to install the agent on a POS system or other device, that’s okay. As long as you have at least one Windows system with the agent installed and reporting into the portal, ShawTech can schedule a time to try to assist remotely. For assistance and details, contact us through the ShawTech PGH.
When do the reports arrive?
Reports are generated on a predictable cadence: Daily reports run at 5:00 AM ET, and Weekly reports run on Sundays at 6:00 AM ET. You get the same consistent timing each week so you can build a quick routine around them.
How does ShawTech keep the portal reliable?
The platform runs nightly maintenance at 2:00 AM ET and keeps operational logs on rotation (30 days) so issues can be spotted and handled quickly. It also automatically removes devices that have been offline for 30+ days, which helps keep your dashboard and reporting focused on the systems that actually matter.
What do we need in place to get started?
Typically, you’ll just need a few key Windows or server systems that can run the agent, basic internet connectivity, and a point of contact who can approve installation on the systems you care about most. Everything else, including dashboards, reports, and tuning, is handled on the ShawTech side.
Legal & privacy
ShawTech PGH is built around clarity and trust. If you are going to send us information about your systems, you deserve to know exactly how seriously we take it.
We do not, and will not, sell any data we collect. Your reports and system information stay between you, ShawTech PGH, and any IT partners you explicitly ask us to work with. We treat that data as confidential and handle it with care.
